What a wonderful use of watercolor! I think "Refugee" is my favorite so far. It has such a poiniant feel which was achieved by the use of a limited palate combined with this composition. Putting the person off to one side and looking out of the picture does this along with letting so much of the figure run off the page. It causes the viewer to unconciously question "what else?" and "what is he/she looking at?" The figure is sort of non-gender which leaves so much more for the viewer to add in his own mind. The facial features are great. The various planes of the face remind me of Picasso. the pouting lower lip and the look in the eyes add so much. The shading is right on. Keep it up!!! I so proud of my cousin! Mary Lou
Ecclesiastes 1:9-10 That which has been is that which will be, And that which has been done is that which will be done. So there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which one might say, "See this, it is new"? Already it has existed for ages which were before us.
